Biography
J. Allen grew up in the hills and swamps of Georgia. After joining the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at age 17, he served a mission among the Navajo in Arizona and New Mexico. He speaks Navajo and has gone on to work with aboriginal peoples throughout the US, Canada and Australia.

After receiving a degree in communications from Brigham Young University, he started a career as a technology entrepreneur that led him to participate in staring nine high-tech companies. In 1988, he installed the first PC network in the White House and spent five years working with the White House and other large agencies in Washington, D.C. After 20 years in technology, he led an education company, WhyTry, Inc. through 7 fantastic years of growth. He then took the helm of TherapEase Innovation, a manufacturer of post-surgical rehabilitation equipment for knee patients.
J. was a volunteer leader for the Boy Scouts of America for over 30 years and a leader for church youth groups. He delighted in introducing young men and young women to the joys of rock and rope and the infinite adventures available in every corner of Utah. He is also a Ham radio operator who has volunteered to provide communications for emergencies and civic events since 1992.
In 1985, he married Casey Packard of Silver Spring, Maryland. Casey teaches writing at UVU and BYU. They are the parents of four hilarious children, and two adorable grandchildren.
